The importance of a site visit

Before any work commences, a comprehensive site visit is essential. This critical step enables your builder to gain a thorough understanding of the client’s vision, identify specific site challenges, and establish a clearer understanding of what is required for your project.

How long does a site vist take

Most site visits last between 30 to 40 minutes, depending on the size of the project. During the site visit, the building surveyor will take notes on your requirements, measure the site, and request any drawings you may have to help generate a quotation based on this information.

Assessing Site Conditions on our visit

An accurate understanding of site conditions is fundamental to effective project planning. The site visit should include:

  • Detailed measurements of all relevant areas, such as walls, ceilings, floors, and notable features

  • Identification and documentation of key utilities, including plumbing and electrical systems

  • Assessment of structural integrity to identify issues such as cracks, dampness, or uneven surfaces

  • Evaluation of environmental factors, including sunlight exposure, drainage, and any zoning or building restrictions

 

By collecting precise data during the site visit, builders significantly reduce the risk of costly surprises or delays later in the project.
